Fire Tail: Coq De Leon Perdigon Feathers Saltwater Applications

Fire Tail: Coq De Leon Perdigon Feathers Saltwater Applications

We brought these traditional dry fly and nymph feathers in for their potential in the saltwater world. The mottled and unique looking colors of the Fire Tail series caught our eyes. Turns out they catch the eyes of tarpon, snook, bonefish and redfish as well. Spirit River’s UV2 dying and processing makes these feathers even more visible than standard UV reflecting materials to creatures that see UV light wavelengths particularly well.. those creatures being fish.

The feathers have soft stems and stiff barbs. Making them not the easiest feathers to tie with, but when you get it right you get nice profiles and great movement from your flies. Like Darren says in the video – think outside the box with these and you’ll create some delicious saltwater and bass bugs.
