The active ingredient in Insect Shield is Permethrin, an invisible, odorless, agent that repels mosquitoes (including those carrying West Nile virus and malaria), ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums). Insect Shield repellent lasts through 70 washings.
