Crystal clear
Cortland Liquid Crystal fly line is the company’s newest advancement in PE+ technology. Their new PE+ jacket incorporates a unique multi-polymer blend, which allows the line to be supple and manageable while maintaining an incredibly low co-efficient of friction for outstanding shoot-ablility and distance. Cortland’s Core Fusion Technology (CFT) seamlessly joins the high performance PE+ jacket with a special single filament core – achieving unprecedented strength and durability.

CFT eliminates bond and stretching issues with traditional fly line cores. Designed inside and out to handle all the challenges of tropical and warm water fishing. Whether your chasing tarpon in the backcountry, spooky permit on the flats or redfish on the coast, Liquid Crystal is up for the challenge.

  1. Some tricks needed, but good for spooky fish

The line holds a memory, so I store it on a big spool I crafted from a pool noodle. You really can’t see it, so you have to visually track the fly, not the line. But, by George, it works great for fish that spook when they see a fly line.

I used this Cortland clear on 2 trips to Belize and Mexico. Line will not loose its coil memory, making for lots of tangles. Also the rather large diameter (8 wgt) makes for a splashy presentation. Line a too stiff, but does shoot thru the guides well
