One line to rule the flats when it’s windy or deeper
The six feet of clear intermediate tip on the RIO DirectCore Flats Pro StealthTip provides stealth and specific functionality. The intermediate tip cuts wind like butter and gets the fly down quicker with a direct connection to the fly. Perfect for permit and bonefish on deeper flats, tarpon in backcountry bays, and tarpon on the flats when they’re hanging low or there’s a chop on the water. The high floating running line does not impede the cast and makes it possible to pick up and re-cast quickly.
There’s presentation lines and there’s quick-loading bomber lines, but what about one line to do it all? That would be the RIO DirectCore Flats Pro. This line completely takes away the need to have or choose between the two types of line mentioned above. It is one line that does everything you need in any given shallow water situation, and it does it better. Through innovative weight distribution and taper design the Flats Pro is able to load quickly, shoot long and true, present small flies as delicately as possible and turn over big flies in strong headwinds. The front-loaded taper loads quickly over short distances for get the fly in the water to fish that snuck under your radar type situations. The mid-length head and extended back taper provide the stability needed to carry a ton of line and to ensure accuracy on long casts at fleeing or incoming fish. RIO redefined the weight distribution grain by grain on the Flats Pro until it could make delicate presentations with bonefish flies and drive heavy crab patterns into the wind equally well.
All of this is built around the super low-stretch, low-memory DirectCore mono core. The low-stretch properties of the core excel at keeping all of the energy in your fly line, retaining stiffness in tropical head and driving steel into bony mouths. The low-memory properties of the core reduce tangling and helps the line to lie straight out on the water without curl so you always have a direct connection to the fly.
