  1. Question

If not stainless, is it a strong carbon hook with black nickel or does it have a tin coating? I’ll it hold up to tarpon? For tarpon bunny’s, and roach style tarpon flies? The short shank baitfish style which comes in nickel or red, has been great! And the retention is killer, but the hook doesn’t have a long lifespan. That being said, it’s worth it!

It’s hi carbon steel with a nickel tin finish. It’s 1X strong, yes it’ll make for a good tarpon hook. Although there are situations where any hook will break and there are hooks we carry (like you said, short shank 2x heavy like the Umpqua XS415H) that are stronger and less likely to break in certain situations. But all in all, I wouldn’t be afraid to use this hook in size 1/0 and up for tarpon bugs.

Is it black nickel finish? & is the hook high Carbon? Will it hold up to tarpon, I.E. Tarpon bunny, or roach fly.
