Christmas Island Outfitters – Christmas Island

Location: Christmas Island (Kiribati), 1,200 miles south of Hawaii.

Fishery: The world famous Christmas Island is also the world’s largest coral atoll and is a dream destination for saltwater sight fishing. Most of the fly fishing is done wading in clear, skinny water. The bonefish are beyond abundant with the average fish in the 2-3 pound range and opportunities at fish in the 5-10 pound range. Amongst the bonefish, triggerfish and multitude of trevally species you’ll encounter on the flats, the GT reigns supreme. Anglers go to Christmas Island specifically to pit their might and skill against the great Giant Trevally in shallow water.

Accomodations: Rustic and simple. the accommodations are little more than a comfortable basecamp to rest your head at night. Rooms are clean with A/C and a bathroom. The meals are basic but filling and delicious after a day on the water. They consist of fresh seafood or chicken, pork or meat with rice or pasta.
