So effective, it’s part of our logo
The Eat Me Fly was originally created by good friend of the shop and our local offshore guide Capt. Scott Hamilton. The fly is so effective on inshore and offshore species whose diet consists heavily of pilchards and other white baits, that it became our signature fly. All our Eat Me flies are tied by shop owner Darren Selznick, Ole Florida style, with all the materials tied on top of a short shank hook. We’ve recently updated the #4’s to be tied on the Gamakatsu SL12S Short after experimenting with this new hook on schoolie dolphin.

Can only speak about my experience fishing for false albacore. Without throwing live bait out this fly underperformed imho. But it is great when throwing small live baits out. (As is many other patterns) Doesn’t seem very “original” imo but it is durable.

This fly catches everything that swims. But love it for beach snook and fishing the lights for tarpon.

I am new to fly fishing so forgive my ignorance. Does this fly swim hook point up?

Have you ever made it with Yak Hair?

Iv did it with Steve Farrar Fiber and tuned out pretty well! I’m sure Yak Hair would be a great choice for it! It would definitely make a more “full” body.
