The Umpqua XS435 Bendback hooks is deigned for one thing, the perfect bendback fly. With the shape and design of this hook having a in line shank and hook point allows for the perfect penetration and energy transfer to get the hook set proper without losing the energy transfer. This hook includes a micro barb for slimmer profile for better hook penetration, forged hi-carbon steel and the new V-Lock design.
The V-Lock bend is made to keep the hook situated right in the corner of the mount and all the pulling forced in the “knuckle” of the hook without slipping out.

Just the thing needed for tying bend back flies to fish the thick stuff. Great quality hook and excellent design profile. In the past I bent my own to tie my bend backs, but now i use these exclusively. Very satisfied.

A size 1 XS435 is an excellent hook for peacocks and largemouths in weedy south Florida environs. The 2XH shank provides a good keel for bendback patterns. The hi-carbon steel construction has stood up well to thrashings by peacocks and jaguars. I recently landed an 18″ peacock with a size 6 XS435 pattern intended for trout (of the salmonid variety) and the fly is still usable.
