How to Tie: The Kwan
Imitates: shrimp, crab, ambiguous/something tasty
Target species: bonefish, permit, redfish
Where to fish: flats, backcountry
Notes: Lg beadchain eyes are great for tailing fish, use small lead eyes for deeper water, cruising fish. Mike (P, JR)'s favorite bonefish fly. Tie in black and purple, or more rusty colors, for redfish. You can use anything "flowy" for the collar (crosscut rabbit, marabou, etc)

About the fly:
It’s a good idea to tie the Kwan if you’re fishing the Florida Keys, Biscayne Bay, Andros.. or anywhere there’s bonefish and potentially large bonefish.
They are exceptionally good tailing bonefish flies. In fact they’re our favorite tailer and super shallow water flies for South Florida.
They always want to land softly and track straight. They’re a bit too big to ignore and they look just like a common shrimp sitting on the bottom.
Bonefish aside, show a Kwan to tailing redfish and see what happens…
